Stingers

Stinger is a specialized structure which facilitates installation of submarine pipelines from a vessel. We design stingers with the following premise:

  • Robust design which must not fail as repairs onboard ship are expensive and space is at a premium

Each stinger is tailor made, the design of which is preceded by an exhaustive analysis phase during which:

  • Maximum acceptable loads are calculated
  • Risk of materials fatigue are assessed
  • Interactions between the ship and stinger are balanced

Ships which are equipped with a stinger often require additional structures in order to ensure balance. For which we design-

  • Hang off frame
  • Uplift compensation system (for the heavy winches) which control the stinger's movements
